In early 2010, DAL Food entered a long-term strategic partnership with some of Khartoum state’s milk producers that adequately safeguards the rights of both parties and contributes to the long-term development of the dairy sector. This step was taken purely out of conviction that the private sector’s entry into this field and turning to local milk producers will contribute immensely in the development of the dairy industry on all levels (producers, manufacturers, and distributors).
Read MoreBy virtue of this partnership, the factory provides an array of services to the dairy farmers to help increase productivity and reduce cost. These include:
DAL also organises regular field visits to the contracted dairy farms conducted by technical support experts to ensure the attainment of the objectives and the prevention of any deviations.
The ethical business culture in DAL Food has paved the way to success with internationally recognised standards and certifications such as ISO and HACCP. The ever-growing number of farmers interested in partnering with DAL is an indication of this project’s success. Moreover, these milk farmers will supply the factory with raw materials of optimum quality- thanks to the joint efforts in training and implementation- because access to food that meets safety and quality standards is a right of each citizen.
The population growth in Sudan is directly proportional to the demand for dairy products. As DAL has always been ready to contribute using only top scientific methods, it set up the milk collection centres throughout the milk-producing areas in Khartoum. There, the milk is examined and undergoes tests to ensure quality and safety. The milk is then cooled immediately and transferred to tanks where it stays until it is transported to the dairy factory by a fleet of refrigerated milk tanker trucks.
The collection centres’ strategy resulted in the provision of sufficient raw milk to all production lines. It also enabled the new factory to achieve one of its goals of producing fresh and pasteurised milk at the beginning of 2011 in affordable milk packs, distributed across the state of Khartoum.
In 2012, with increasing collected milk quantities, the factory was also able to launch a Sudanese white cheese production line. Currently, DAL’s dairy factory is considered to be Sudan’s only factory to produce high-quality, pasteurised white cheese in accordance with the highest international manufacturing and quality standards. The cheese is also packaged in compliance with the Sudanese safety requirements and standards.
In 2018, our capacity exceeded 100 tons/day, collected through fives collection centres (more than 120 key account farmers).
These modern and innovative integrated processes (collection, manufacturing, distribution) will undoubtedly contribute to ensuring the delivery of high-quality and healthy products to all consumers, as well as bolstering the livelihoods of those contributing to milk production.
